Beyer “surprised” he wasn’t consulted
The Daily Mail has an article on the upcoming Mary Whitehouse drama “Filth”. Whitehouse’s successor, “Massah” John Beyer is quoted:
It’s unfortunate they have tagged the story “Filth”.
To the best of my recollection, that wasn’t a word she used. Mary was not the poker-faced person that she was made out to be.
To suggest that she wasn’t ever smiling just isn’t true. I understand it is based on Mary’s autobiography.
My anxiety is that it will be embellished. The fact that I was not consulted is also surprising, given I worked alongside her for 16 years.
Her family hasn’t been involved either.
Julie Walters is set to play the leading role.
Let’s face it, unless the Beeb make her out to be a saintly, open-minded campaigner for perfect decency with not a hint of prudish, self-important nanny goat, MW will be at the keyboard the minute the credits roll to whine that she has been misrepresented.
Stuart – they’ll be at the keyboards before it even starts, never mind after it finishes. You don’t think that MW watch the shows they complain about do you?
Beyer ‘worked alongside’ Holy Mary for 16 years and she resisted the urge to beat his brains out with her bible?
I finally have some respect for the late bat!
I’m a different Stuart to comment 1, by the way (lot of us about)
You don’t think that MW watch the shows they complain about do you? Whitehouse herself certainly never did – she was more than happy to rely on grossly distorted, out-of-context, second- or third-hand descriptions. Still, she’s dead now, ghastly coprophiliac arsonist* that she was.
*That’s what my sources tell me, anyway.
