Boob in a burkha branded “blasphemous”

Looks like a right tit: The latest piece of burk-art to outrage Muslim groups
The London Paper reports that the Union of Muslim Organisations of the UK and Ireland (UMO) has overreacted to another art exhibition. In what is fast becoming a genre in itself (see the Sarah Maple story from October), this latest piece of burkart is from photographer Yeon Lee. It is being exhibited in a the Sesame Gallery in Islington as part of a wider collection called Five Years.
A spokesman for UMO made the usual veiled threats, suggesting it could spark a Motoon-riot type of reaction.
At a time when tensions are already heightened, gallery owners shouldn’t be exhibiting artwork like this – it’s offensive, inflammatory. and degrading to Muslim women.
[…]
People will protest. It’s blasphemous – the artist just wants to make some money – and it’s not helpful in this current climate.
I guess you resisted the temptation to make “someone feeling a right tit jokes” then…(even though it was the left one).
Muslims? Offended? Surely not!!
It’s art. You’re not required to like it. Who goes to an exhibition with no idea of the kind of thing they’re likely to see? I look at this issue in the same way as, say, TV programmes. There’s loads of stuff on UK TV that I think is puerile rubbish, but I don’t complain. I just don’t watch it.
Naturally, if I heard about an exhibition that displayed stuff that I was sure to find offensive, I’d go out of my way to see it. (No, I wouldn’t.)
Controversies like this do at least distract one from more serious issues such as suicide bombing, I suppose.
I love it when they call something like this ‘blasphemous’. I mean what sort of a religion would be so bizarre that it would anticipate someone doing this and have a commandment against it?
‘it’s not helpful in the current climate’
…You mean the current climate of your lot using violence and threats to suppress free speech? Hmmmm, I think I may have to be unhelpful too.
Even refusal to convert to Islam is an insult to Muslims. Let’s at least have fun doing the inevitable, and further explore the burkart genre, shall we?
“….degrading to muslim women”
My irony meter is near breaking point.
FFS! Is it even a burkha? Is it even a boob??
Looks more like a pregnant midget in a sack.
I’d recognise that tit anywhere – it’s Stephen Green!
Why can’t they just say what the rest of us are thinking?: “…gallery owners shouldn’t be exhibiting artwork like this – it’s crap!”
What kind of freakishly proportioned woman is this?
I don’t like that tit. It looks too mature.
And there was me thinking Darth Vader was male all these years. Perhaps it’s a moob and Lord Vader has let himself go a bit?
