A fitting and elegiac tribute:
MediaWatchWatch was set up in January 2005 in reaction to the religious campaign against the BBC's broadcasting of Jerry Springer: the Opera.
We keep an eye on those groups and individuals who, in order to protect their beliefs from offence, seek to limit freedom of expression. And we make fun of them.
If you have any information, email The Monitor.
I may not agree with EVERYTHING Hitchens says, but in the case of religion and the religious I think he’s abso-bloody-lutely spot on.
particularly liked the bit about Falwell being found on the floor rather than rapturously ascending…
hurhurhur
now, if only a few more assorted supernaturalist fanatics would follow Falwell’s example…
🙂
Way to go Chris! 😉
Shame of it is, that most of conservative America will look upon him as evil – ironically because they are still under the spell of the great Xenu… or was that Fallwell? I forget.
We should only speak good of the dead. Falwell is dead. Good! (With a nod to Bette Davis.)
I must say I agree with him about any nutjob being able to get far too much exposure if they’re affiliated with a religion. It’s that whole thing where one person believing something is a delusion and many is a religion.
